Learn New Skills And Learn About The Universal World of Entrepreneurs To Guarantee Your Success

October 23, 2011 by

While there may not be any real absolute in business, this lesson will get as close as possible. We begin with our company axiom. It will give you some understanding to what’s in store as a entrepreneur. “Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so they can live the rest of their lives like most people can’t.” The number one key is in knowing the entrepreneur’s universe.

We use a pyramid diagram for our model of business owners. There are 4 components to the universe and every business owner resides in this model. Stats reveal this world and the stories they tell business owners.

Entrepreneurs World: A. Stars That Shine- business owners have all the knowledge needed to run a successful business. B. Fast Trackers- business owners are coached at a growing company and still require some form of management aid. Fast Trackers reside in the midst of the triangle and total 15% of their world. C. Existing Talents- owners have been partially educated but are missing sound judgment and hands in governing a business. Existing talents split the load and mass of the triangle along with Wannabe’s, even though they do not actually assist with the load on an even basis. Existing talents total 20% of all owners in their world. D. Wannabe’s- owners do not have most of the skills, knowledge and core competencies to manage a successful enterprise. Wannabe’s use trial and error and pay the price statistically for short comings. They total 60% of their world and that is the biggest category.

So what does the 1st key tell us? The galaxy shows us and the statistics will prove that 95 percent of all business owners lack 1 or more of the skills to successfully manage a business. That means only 5% have all the skill sets required to be successful in business. Here are the industry stats: 40,000,000 businesses. 25% change ownerships each year. 90% of all businesses gross less than $300,000. 20% of online companies are profitable. 50% of all businesses close in the first two years.

Key two is in knowing where you exist in the galaxy. I’m one of the luckier people. I personally learned later in life the discovery and went on a 6 year retooling initiative. I studied my weaknesses to begin with, since those were so clear to me, then I committed the time to systematically enhance my skill sets and core competencies that would aid my future successes in business.

Here are the industry stats: 40,000,000 businesses. 25% change ownerships each year. 90% of all businesses gross less than $300,000. 20% of e-commerce businesses are profitable. 50% of all businesses close in the first two years.

It’s obvious that few business owners competing today have all the skills sets and disciplines required to successfully run a growth company or business. The numbers are too strong to believe differently. If you want to guarantee any amount of success as a business owner, you should learn and enhance the skill sets you lack.

Want to be shining star? Then learn to make a small shift in your orientation towards goals. We need to move away from a single goal orientation and add a learning orientation to it. Sometimes the trouble with success is, once you’ve achieved it, you have nothing to look forward too or to challenge you. Not so with a life long learning orientation where you will always have something new to learn, as you grow personally and professionally.

In the end, the 2 keys to your kingdom of business fortunes have been handed to you. Begin now and commit to learning new skills. There are plenty of skill seminars in business, so rank them to your own needs for a quick start.

As CEO of a company with over four hundred and fifty people, I trained hundreds of entrepreneurs and managers on some of the more popular skill sets like critical thinking and problem solving. Here’s a small list of some of the skill sets out there for you to learn: skills for managing people, accounting for non finance managers, marketing, sales, communications, internet marketing and SEO, team building, project management, human resources, etc. Look to college classes in the evening on business subjects of interest as well.

Thinking of Investing In Gold? Consider Silver

November 25, 2010 by

There are many experts who believe silver is a better investment then gold. Silver has some benefits that gold does not have.

Historically during a precious metal bull market silver generally has a greater percentage increase. In prior precious metal bull markets there have been times when silver has tripled when gold has only doubled. There have been some prior periods where silver has increased four times while gold has only doubled.

The demand for silver is built on three legs: 1) jewelry and silverware, 2) coins and metals and 3) industrial. By far the largest of these categories is industrial. Silver has far more industrial applications then gold.

This industrial demand supports the price of silver. With countries like China and India becoming more and more industrialized the demand for silver is great and continues to grow. Many experts are concerned that mine production and secondary recovery methods will not be able to keep up with demand. Many have even predicted that a silver shortage will occur.

Even if no shortage occurs it is a good chance that increasing worldwide demand for silver will continue to push the price of silver up. This makes silver an appealing asset.

The other big advantage to silver is price. Many people considering a precious metal purchase cannot afford gold, which right now is well over $1,300 an ounce. On the other hand silver is around $25 an ounce. The price point for a silver coin makes silver affordable for everyone to acquire.

One possible option for the smaller purchaser is to buy newly minted and graded coins. For example for around a hundred dollars anyone can buy a 2010 certified MS70 U.S. Silver Eagle Dollar. These come encapsulated for protection. The fact that the coin is certified as mint state 70 gives it some numismatic value. Hang on to a coin like this for 10 years and you may see an increase in value even if the price of silver remains the same.

Like gold, silver has never been worth zero. Also like gold, silver can be a hedge against inflation. I am not touting silver has a great investment or even a safe investment. Nothing is risk free. What I am saying is that the price of silver allows anyone to invest. You can buy 10 certified MS70 American Eagle Dollars for less then an ounce of gold will cost.

Online Day Trading Day Trader Analysis For The Week Ahead

After 4 weeks of strength, the S&P finally put in a red candle, a narrow one, but a reversal bar nonetheless. While this doesn’t mean the market HAS to pull back, it suggests the market may be willing to take a few profits here and make prices more attractive for long entries.

A retest of the 50% Fib level at S&P 1121 would be a very mild retracement, while a drop to the 10 day ma (1106) or 20 day ma (S&P 1093) would scare a few more longs out of their positions. There should be some shorting opportunities on a pullback, but keep in mind that those would be counter trend trades (relative to the daily uptrend), so take profits along the way and don’t be greedy with targets.

The bigger opportunity will be in watching strong stocks pulling back in order to find long entries for the next leg up.

Energy stocks were among the strongest sectors last week, and several coal stocks broke out on Friday. Peabody Energy (BTU) gapped up Friday, near the high of Thursday’s high volume red bar, and then continued higher, trapping all of the bears from Thursday as it cleared both daily and weekly resistance on even higher volume. BTU could be entered as a long over Friday’s high ($51.25), but if the market is weak Monday morning, a pullback could provide a better entry. The technical stop would be under Friday’s low ($49.66), which might be reasonable if you buy BTU on an intraday pullback. Otherwise look for a stop under support on the 15 or 60min chart. Target would be the 52 week high at $52.14, and you could hold a portion looking for another dollar if BTU overshoots the high.

Real Estate companies have been moving up for almost 2 years, but some are showing signs of tiring. Boston Properties (BXP) made a new 52 week high 2 weeks ago, but sold off on strong volume and moved below both the 20 and 50 day moving averages. If the market pulls back, BXP, which is already showing relative weakness, could drop to the next support level. Consider shorting under Thursday’s low ($82.63), with a stop over Friday’s high ($83.99). Targets would be $80.50 and $79.40.

Why To Seriously Consider An Affiliate Marketing Business

August 20, 2010 by

If you are new to online business and without many Internet technical skills, you might seriously consider starting an affiliate marketing business. There are many reasons for this but the primary one is that once you join an affiliate program, you will be given everything you need to begin and essentially there is a possibility that you can earn while you learn.

The affiliate program will give you an affiliate ID, URL link and a web page that is encoded with your link, so you can just start marketing and advertising on day one. This is really the only work you need to do, as opposed to if you were struggling to put together a site. Most affiliate programs also provide banners and other advertising resources for you to use.

Once you start one program and ‘get your feet wet’ then it is always a good idea to expand your horizons by going on to add other programs to your portfolio to create multiple streams of income. It is easy to duplicate what you are doing to promote one program for another – and another. This gives you more capacity to earn a higher number of commissions and hence more money.

The affiliate marketing business is one in which many people have been very successful. Then there are many more that have not and the only difference is that the former group realizes that they need to treat it seriously as they would a job. They devoted their time and energy to promoting their business over time. They learned all they could about Internet marketing and they did testing and tracking to find what was the most effective.

Those that really excel at their affiliate marketing business are those that have eventually branded themselves and gone on to start their own affiliate programs. Their success does speak for them, and compels people to believe in them and to believe that they have a chance at success as well.

Changing Childrens Lives – A Womans Mission

Life changed for Dorothy Samson in an Indian orphanage. Seeing the incredible needs of the children there, the Colorado resident knew she could make a difference. So started a journey that led her to Compassion International and its unique child sponsorship program. Now, after just five years working with the ministry, 25 children count on Samson for prayers, letters and support.

Later, when she learned that there was a need for sponsors for African children, she didn’t hesitate to take on even more.

I always wanted to have 12 children with an abundance of boys, Samson said.

Later, when she learned that there was a need for sponsors for African children, she didn’t hesitate to take on even more.

But all children are precious, even those who might be HIV-positive. They aren’t responsible for having the disease – they are innocent victims, and they, too, deserve the opportunity to have a happy childhood and to be loved and cared for.

I don’t know if any of my children have the disease,Samson said.I pray that they do not. But it would never change how I feel about them. I love them as my own children. My hope for them is that they can have a happy childhood and become all they can be in Jesus – free from AIDS.

Responding to the need, Samson sponsored 12 African children – eight of them in Uganda. And in September 2002, she spent five special days with my youngsters,as she refers to them. She treated her children to a game park, a safari and a boat ride to see hippos.

They crawl up into my lap they call me Auntie Dorothy,Samson said. They are my children and I love them all.

When Compassion International opened its first projects in Uganda in 1980, the scourge of HIV/AIDS had not yet affected the world. Little did anyone know that only a few years later, many of the children Compassion serves in Uganda would battle the effects of this deadly, incurable disease. Compassion International currently ministers to more than 164,000 children in five countries in East Africa.

How Can A Business Broker Help Anybody To Sell Or Buy A Business?

July 9, 2010 by

If you are interested to buy a business, or if you are a business owner who wants to sell, it’s recommended that you utilize the services of a professional to assist you during the process. A business broker is such a professional and he can assist both buyers and sellers during the buying/selling transaction.

As a general rule you don’t find young people fresh out of college in the field of business broking. This is because you need an in depth knowledge of the business world in order to do the job well. Business brokers are thus often retired business owners, bankers or accountants. These guys not only know what makes for a successful business, but they also know how to interpret financial statements and what questions to ask when buying any type of business.

If you’re a business owner who wants to sell, you can employ a broker to sell it on your behalf on a commission basis. If he is therefore unable to sell it, you don’t have to pay him anything. He will advertise it for sale in all the large newspapers and also on the Net. He will then deal with the resulting inquiries and have personal meetings with those buyers who are seriously interested.

Once they have sifted through the inquiries to identify the genuine ones, they will ask you to meet with these prospective buyers. During the initial session an interested party will no doubt ask you a lot of questions. Never lie, but also don’t divulge any confidential information about your business. This should wait until the buyer has made a formal offer, which you have accepted.

For a buyer making use of a broker also makes a lot of sense. They will have a large number of businesses for sale at any given moment. The financial statement for all of these will be available for you to study. They will also be able to answer routine questions about such business. Once you have studied the financials and you are still interested, a meeting between you and the owner will be arranged. At this meeting you can ask any remaining questions.

If you go ahead and make an offer on the business, you can make it subject to the fulfillment of certain criteria. A purchase contract can then be drawn up which only becomes binding once these criteria have been met. You could for example ask that your own accountant verify the accuracy of the financial statements and check the accuracy of stock lists and assets registers.

Whether you are a seller or a buyer, it thus makes a lot of sense to use a business broker. They have both the skill and experience to give sound advice to both sellers and buyers.

A business broker is a specialized type of expert familiar with the ins and outs of marketing a business. Make sure you choose a top rated New Jersey business broker for selling your business.

Online Business How To From The Couple Next Door

July 3, 2010 by

In my first article, I told you about some of our background in starting an internet business. We have sold homeschool curriculum, eBooks, and home-study courses built around online business how to tips. And we have learned a lot about the intnert through both our success and failures.

The first eBook we ever sold, my wife wrote. It is called Raising Leaders, Not Followers. Basically it was an eBook designed specifically for homeschoolers, teaching them how to raise their kids for leadership positions. My wife approached me with the idea, and I said, “Honey, it is not really a barn-burning topic. I just do not know that you are going to make any money with it.” Well, she proved me wrong. She sold $11,197 the first 19 days. How is that for internet marketing 101?

Not too shabby, right? On the heels of her first success, my wife started thinking about another eBook for the Christmas season. She said to me, “Sweetie, I am going to write another eBook about preparing your heart for Christmas. It seems like a lot of people get close to Christmas day and end up discouraged because they were not really prepared for the season. The presents are great, but what do they do next?”

I said, “That is a wonderful idea, but with all the free stuff on Christmas, I do not see how you are going to sell anything. You got lucky with the first one. That was a fluke. But this one, you would be lucky to sell 5 copies.” I was a very supportive husband, right? Well, she proved me wrong again. She sold over $2,200 the first month with that Christmas book. Imagine getting a $2,200 Christmas bonus every year. That is what we do. My wife created it 3 or 4 years ago. We roll it out every Christmas, and every Christmas, we get a $2,200 to $2500 bonus.

Do you see what I mean? I will admit that I may not be the brightest bulb, but seeing my wife hit two home runs on the internet without any business or marketing training convinced me. I started thinking I could do it, too. I could start an internet business.

I had a red pickup truck. It was a Ford F150. My daughter had taken it to high school. She was playing softball with the high school. And all of a sudden, her teammates were screaming, “Gentry, your truck is on fire!” She looks up. There were flames going 20 feet high out from under the hood.

Turns out Ford had recalled the cruise control switch in this particular model. And I could see why. Once we got the fire put out, we could see that the truck was totaled. I called Ford, but all they could do was apologize. It seems they had notified me of the recall by sending me a notice to my previous address in Texas. But we lived in Idaho.

I decided to start an online business, so I put up a little website that said, “My truck caught on fire.” I had pictures of the truck, and I opened up the hood and showed how all the engine compartment was burned up and all the wires were burned up. I said, “Why don’t you help me while I help you? I’m going to give you all this free internet marketing stuff. Graphics package. Some software. eBooks. Marketing tips.” All this stuff I had compiled and got free off the internet. I compiled it into a product and sold it for like $47. And I made $5,470 in the first 9 days.

I hope what you are seeing from these real-life examples is that you can succeed on the internet. Seriously! All you need is a little online business ho to and you can begin making a profit.

Shopping Cart Web Sites

June 6, 2010 by

An ecommerce site is different from an information site – it has a different function or purpose altogether

Its primary purpose it to allow people to buy on line.

Behind the scenes the software required to run such a site is a lot more involved and complex than would be required for a straight information site. But this doesn’t mean it has to be much harder to build or maintain.

So if you have ever thought of selling on line, here’s a short checklist that will help you get started

Five Things You Will Need are

1. Products. Do you have to have something to sell? It can be a physical product like a CD or clothing or a downloadable product like MP3 files or software. One other option if you don’t want to manage any inventory is to try drop shipping. This is where people buy from you but the actual order is fulfilled by your wholesaler who delivers the product the customer without any further involvement from you.

2. Shopping Cart Software. There are many of these. Possibly even thousands. Some are better than others for certain purposes, some have annual license fees and some are completely free. More important though than the license fee is the level of technical support available.

3. SSL and Dedicated IP. An SSL certificate creates the ‘https’ version of a website – you often see this on shopping carts and finance sites. This represents the fact the page is encrypted and more secure than a straight http page.

You probably don’t need to know how to install an SSL certificate. Just order it and let your web host or web designer do the rest!

4. Merchant Account and Payment Gateway. Typically new online stores use an online credit card processing company such as PayPal or Paymate to accept credit card payments. These work well and are widely used and inexpensive. Most shopping carts integrate with them easily too.

If you prefer you can approach your bank to set up a merchant facility, Just be aware there is usually a monthly fee involved, however if you have a high volume of sales you can often you can negotiate a lower rate .

Otherwise stick with the online processors. They are almost always cheaper and every bit as secure.

5. Shipping Provider. Ironically this can trip people up more than you might think. Getting the shipping right can be key to how competitive your prices are perceived to be.

The simplest way is to have the shopping cart link directly to your chosen shipping provider. The software tells the shipping company the weight, size, origin and destination of the item being sent and gets a shipping cost in return. This is then used by the software in the checkout process

Other possible options are to set a flat rate for all deliveries within a certain region or even free delivery for items over a specified value.

Just be sure your shopping cart lets you change between these options at will.

Putting it all together

Now you can do all of this yourself. ie set up a hosting account, order and map the domain name to it, have the SSL certificate installed and then upload and install the chosen shopping cart software.

This shopping cart software will need configuring for your desired payment gateway and shipping and probably will almost certainly need some code modifications and template modifications.

You will then need to input of your privacy statement, trading terms and so on.

Finally you’ll set up your categories and input your catalogue of products.

It’s not an overnight process!! If you’re doing it for the first time it might take you 80 or so hours. But cost will be low – possibly only a few hundred dollars

Or you can get a web designer like myself to do it. Just supply me with the required data and I can have it all ready for you within 3 – 4 weeks. Ready for launch. It will cost more than $500 obviously. But not that much more… especially considering it will free up 80 hours of your time!

You have a shopping cart: what now?

Now you’re online with your shopping cart that just the beginning. You’re going to need some good traffic to make sales. But at least you have a solid foundation in place to start from.

A Couple Of Thoughts On The Benefits Of Multilevel Marketing

May 25, 2010 by

Anyone who is searching for a suitable business opportunity that they can take advantage of should consider network marketing. There are many different reasons for this, so let’s have a look at a few.

One of the top benefits that anyone will identify is that there is a huge proliferation of opportunities available for anyone to look at. Different products and services are sold by different companies and many of these will offer people the opportunity to get involved through their network or multilevel marketing business model. As such, it is easily possible for you to find something suitable to you.

Another benefit is that you can work for yourself. Being self-employed within a multilevel marketing company is something that will allow you to work autonomously while gaining all of the support of the company and the resources that it provides. Therefore you have the best of both worlds, working as and when you want, but having the support and backing of a big company.

Possibly the best thing about network marketing is simply that it is open to everyone. It gives anyone the opportunity to make a success of their life and to build something that they can be proud of. Therefore you will not be discriminated against for lack of education or experience and therefore anyone will be able to take an opportunity forward.

The way you get paid is through a commission system and this is a massive benefit as well. You will not be getting a regular wage but will instead be burning for every sale of a product that you make. As such you can work as much as you want or as little as you want.

In addition, the main way of making money would be through building your own team of distributors. It is through their hard work that your main income will be made.
