Many people feel overwhelmed by the demands of the world today. Work, relationships, family issues, the poor economy, and much more make us feel stressed and \’at the end of our ropes\’. However, an ancient treatment that re-teaches people to slow down, evaluate, and retake control of their lives is reemerging as an alternative to modern medicine. This technique is called Meditation and takes less time than one thinks.

Usually taught in Lamaze practices before having children, meditation teaches us to focus on a certain item, noise, or thought to help us conduct our breath, actions, and our focus. The technique can be used by all almost everywhere when there is a need for it. 10 to 15 minutes through the day can change your pressure, bad thoughts, restlessness, and irritation into a feeling of serenity, love, and joy The idea is to regain the power in our own lives and self by gathering positive feedback and seeking self control.

This technique began thousands of years ago where it was used for spiritual purposes. It was found that it generated a spiritual understanding, awareness, and experience that could not be achieved through other means. Before long, however, medical practitioners began to realize the value of utilizing mind control to improve health and fight disease. Even those with chronic, mental, terminal, or incapacitating illnesses that have, in the past, been the most difficult to treat are seeing surprising results.

You can find relaxation through other means too. Many people use Human Touch 7120 Massage Chair to get the same benefits as meditation.

Just like with traditional meditation the technique utilizes various strategies to achieve positive results. Whether sitting up, lying down, or during movement, the subject is to achieve a state where body and mind come into balance and awareness is heightened to the point where positive reactions can be achieved.

There are two separate ways of meditation that most of the population uses. Concentration being the first and the second being mindfulness. Concentration has the individual use a focal point, it can be something as small as concentrating on your breath, a picture, moving a body part such as a finger, a noise, or repeating a phrase. The objective is to gain a certain degree of concentration and alertness that lets oneself have complete power over themselves as well as their surroundings.

Mindfulness is also a type of meditation. Instead of shutting out the area around us, this type has us to notice all that is part of our surroundings. Incorporating beliefs, impressions, emotions, and noises the second they are noticed by the person. Letting us not only better our capability to concentrate, but allowing one to silence their thoughts at their bidding and lowering tension also.

No matter the type that a person picks, whether transcendental meditation, relaxation response, or mindfulness-based to lessen tension, to see that there is a treatment that lets one know the feeling of powering their life it is worth the time and energy it involves to find ones center of being.

  1. I have had some positive experiences using this form of guided meditation. I wanted to point out that it is important to remember that this is a “guided” meditation. It is induced by outside stimulus. Although it can be helpful, it cannot compare with unguided or “nature-guided” meditation.

One can induce alternative states in any number of ways using external stimulus including drugs. Learning to meditate freely and guided only by one’s internal rhythms may require a little more patience, but the results far exceed guided meditation.

I have been mediating myself for over thirty years and offer insights and useful tips on my blog located here: How to Do Meditation – Learn, Sit, Meditate Deeply
