A lot of people view private investigator’s job as an intrusion of privacy and is frequently on the wrong side of the law. Very often, movies depict private investigators in a damaging way.
Countries all over the world have made laws and constitutional amendments to protect their people from what they perceived as violation in their privacy.
Now the question running in everyone’s mind is, what are the things a private investigator can practice that are still within the limits of law, that is, no civil rights are breached during the process?
The law commands that when private investigators execute their work, they have to make sure that they are not attacking someone’s privacy. Private investigators have to make sure that the investigations they are carrying are for legal purposes. And if specific information are going to be used in court, they are expected to preserve the data such that it is not damage or compromise along the way. Private investigators have to cover confidential information such as social security numbers and license numbers with utmost care to protect such data from falling into the wrong hands.
Now another significant question is, are private investigators permitted to carry firearms? This depends on where the private investigators are located. But among countries or states, one thing is common, private investigators can only use firearms if they are licenced with a concealed weapons license and of course they have firearms permit.
It is also important to ask, if in the eyes of the law private investigators permitted to attest in court? The answer is, YES they can. Private investigators working for lawyers or private individuals are allowed to testify in court. They can demonstrate what they have seen or discovered provided they have sufficient evidence that will back up whatever they say.
The last and most important thing is, the private investigators must be licensed before conducting any work.
