Initials That Cost Money

Because the auction house did not see the portrait to be anything but a knockoff of a 17th century Rembrandt, the price was set at only $3,100. For the British buyer that paid 1,500 times more than that, he surely knew what situation he put himself in. It has been confirmed by experts that the Dutch master, depicted with his head tilted back in easygoing laughter, was indeed the maker of Rembrandt Laughing which was bought from an English auction house for a bargain price amounting to four and a half million.
Rather disappointed with how much the piece was sold for in the auction was a collector who specializes in Dutch and Flemish masters for he says that it could have easily been worth $30 to $40 million. After being asked to change the value of the painting the art expert from Sotheby’s declined to do so. It is not every day that a work of Rembrandt comes on the market and so this sale in particular is a rare opportunity.
This portrait was made by Rembrandt around 1628 and during this time he was in his early 20s in his hometown of Leiden. During this time he was already making a name for himself in the art world and he used a mirror and his face as he played with expressions. You could say that it has an unbelievable presence. The light has the most natural quality of light you can think of and I love the naturalness of the laughing.
About 100 years was how long the painting had been in the possession of an English family. A number of people thought that it was one of Rembrandt’s students or his imitator. Considering the poor photographs that could have resulted in the presentation of little of the painting’s luminosity or depth, these could have led to the low evaluation from the auction house. Pointing to Rembrandt were the materials, contour, brush stroke, and monogram, all of these pointed to Rembrandt and a 23 page analysis was made to support how he was responsible for the little work.
There was a rare style used by the artist for only a year and this may have been known by the winner of the auction when he suspected that the painting was a genuine Rembrandt from the monogram RHL. For the monogram, it meant Rembrandt Harmenszoon of Leiden. For its assessment the auction house recorded the signature HL. Painted onto the background are these initials and the proof becomes even more compelling as the brush strokes used match the direction used by Rembrandt in his other monograms.
It was the body shape of the laughing Rembrandt that perplexed the experts. There was little definition of the anatomy below other than it having a woolly blanket for clothing, lying in lumpy folds, and the metal armor and glossy shirt appearing amorphous. From this piece came a contour with a character of its own and he used this in his works afterwards. When it comes to the contour there is a certain autonomy to it and this must be because Rembrandt was trying out this particular way of painting the body for the first time.
Similar to that of the other Rembrandt paintings, the thin copper plate on which the piece is painted matches the size and type. There is a second painting underneath this particular work and based from the xrays this is a distinct mark in all Rembrandt works. There was no one who knew where the painting was before 1800 and a Flemish engraver accidentally attributed the original to the Dutch painter Frans Hals when he made a reproductive print not seeing how the image bore the face of Rembrandt. Because of the silence that followed the location of the painting again became a mystery.

Making Sure You Have The Tattoo Supplies That You Need
February 10, 2010 by Adriana Noton

Whether you are just starting out as a tattoo artist or a veteran in the making, tattoo supplies are always needed. The machine itself that you use during the actual process will undergo many changes as you become more accustomed to it and want to try something new. And let\’s not forget the wide variety of inks and needles available in the market today.
Now, when looking for supplies you can go out and buy each piece individually, which can probably get expensive. At one time or another, you will probably buy individual pieces, but there are kits available to you. The prices for such kits range from easily affordable to quite expensive depending on what you are wanting.
In your standardized kit you will most likely receive a tattoo machine, or, in other words, a tattoo gun. They consist of three pieces such as the coil wrap, the grip, and the tips. There is also the power supply and the pedal along with attached cables to make your machine run. To keep your machine together and running, you will need rubber bands, rubber rings, and grommets.
There are other things that may or may not be included in your standard tattoo supply kit. Needles can be bought separately or in kits by themselves. There are different sizes and types depending on what your preference is while tattooing. There is also such a thing as practice skin. This allows you to get the feel of your new machine on something similar to human skin before you work on the real thing.
If you can imagine it, then there is an ink that color out there for you. When deciding on what kind of ink to use, the color should not be your only consideration. From brand to brand there will be differences including the consistency of the ink itself. There are a variety of inks that work with different skin tones, types, and even in the works of covering up scars. Many of the inks are made from metals which some people will develop issues with. Organic inks are something to consider if you think this may be a concern of yours.
The needle, or needles, that you use are one of the most important items that you will use. Once again, what the artistic preference is, really determines what kind of needles that will be bought. The different setups include round, flat, and magnum.
Other than needles, there are many disposable items that you need to supply yourself with before, during, and after the tattooing process. You will need ink cups, petroleum jelly (or something similar to help ease the needle going in and out of the skin), paper towels, antiseptic spray, and some kind of cream to put onto the tattoo once it is finished. These items will make the process of tattooing more convenient and safer.
There are many styles and degrees of professionalism associated with tattoo supplies. The higher the quality, the higher the price, which is true with just about anything. Your machine will become a constant while most of your daily supplies are disposable. Any tattooing artist will always have a demand for tattooing supplies.

Draw a Cartoon Me Face Avatar

I always wanted to be able to draw a cartoon me face from a photograph. One of the reasons it is tricky to draw a cartoon me face is that it takes years of practice. I can trace and draw simple cartoons, but to draw a cartoon from just taking a look at a photograph is a lot more difficult
Drawing a caricature sometimes looks silly, but it it takes lots of work and skill to draw a carton me face of someone by just looking at a photo. When I use to draw cartoons in the beginning, some of them just ended up looking silly without me trying too hard.
I’d take my box of 64 Crayola crayons and use the tiny sharpener on the back. I’d pick my favorite colors whether or not they matched or not I did not care. I might try to draw a cartoon me face of my buddies and they’d giggle.
My drawings have become more detailed as I grew up, but it is still very difficult for me to draw a cartoon me face avatar of someone in a short period of time. Sometimes I will spend hours drawing someone’s ears and mouth and if I can’t complete it I just leave it unfinished.
There are so many things you can do to make the face look like it is alive. I’d spend a couple of hours drawing eyes and it took far longer when I drew women. One of my favorite features to draw on a cartoon me face is the beard. Beards and mustaches are fun to draw and truly help to improve someones facial features.
Taking an art class will definitely cut the learning curve to drawing a cartoon me face. Art classes definitely help add detail to your drawings and almost bring them to life.
Art classes are comparatively cheap and offered at art colleges and community colleges everywhere. A new way to make a cartoon me face is to download a computer program to help you with the drawing. Finding the right program is straightforward and many of them are completely free.
Drawing cartoons can be a fun but time consuming hobby. Drawing a cartoon me face from looking at a photograph is even more challenging.
A great gift for the holidays or someones birthday is to take a photo of them and draw a cartoon me face of that person to get some laughs. Several hours of practice is generally all it takes and you will be able to draw a cartoon me avatar of all of your loved ones.
