My Friend The Social Media Ruler
July 20, 2010 by Warren F. Wooden

My girlfriend is known in our online circles as the ruler of Social Media. She ran ahead of the pack when this was the newest thing to connect with online. When the rest of us were notified to join, she was already ahead of us because she had joined six of these groups and three more were started by her. All her friends know that she will be ahead of our crowd when it comes to something new online.
My girlfriend Lisa was already there when the rest of the world found out about this exciting new marketing medium. She contacted her list of friends to let them know that they too should jump on this bandwagon. When we all asked her why, she explained what this tool could do for us.
Lisa enlightened the rest of us about this new thing that we could use online for targeting our market. No more emails that were deleted on the other end. This was all about relationships. Though to start, it seemed like there would never be any results, it was so slow to come around. But in the long run this was wonderful as we had a targeted audience to build our relationships with.
Because everyone wants to know if they can trust you before they join your venture, this avenue would allow people to really get to know who you are. Building these relationships would build your business as people get to know who you are and how you conduct yourself in the online environment. This would build the trust factor that is needed for someone to join your online business.
Because we all knew and trusted Lisa, we followed her lead and found that as usual, she hit the nail on the head. Relationships are definitely built by using this method. It takes longer, but relationships are built this way and friendships are formed. Then, just as we followed Lisa, your new friends will follow you.
If no one visits your websites, it will not matter how many of them you have out in cyberspace. These groups help you meet others who would have similar interests, as these are targeted groups. You meet one person who knows twenty or thirty more. When you like something, you want to share the information with others. If your new friend likes your product, and believes that you can be trusted, they will tell all their friends.
So what Lisa showed us was to be choosy about which groups we joined, as there were so many popping up everywhere. She explained that quality was better than quantity. You would want to be on three sites and able to build relationships there, than to be on ten sites and not be able to keep up with them. We could see the importance of being careful about which sites we joined. Each group is targeted to a specific area so it is critical to join the one that works with your personal online venture.
The smart marketer will be involved in a few of the social media groups. It is a great tool that when used properly can help you grow your business with a strong foundation of people that know who they are following and why.

Using WEB 2.0 To Drive Internet Traffic – Three Top Tips
June 23, 2010 by Laura Coolie
Along with WEB 2.0 came a whole range of new jargon and slang to describe the building blocks and concepts that it introduced. Like all new ideas, it can seem a little confusing for the newcomer, and might even deter some from participating in it altogether.
I have picked three of the three concepts that WEB 2.0 uses and will describe them here in the hope of demystifying them for those looking to either enjoy WEB 2.0, or more likely benefit from the advantages that this huge new “virtual market” brings.
1 – Tagging and Tags. Tags are like the keywords of a particular message, video, article or application. They are a “short cut” to understanding what it is about. As an example, if you produce a video about rock climbing you might choose “rock climbing”, “mountaineering” and “ascent” as three of your tags. This gives both the end user, and the engines on the web that categorize your video an idea of how and where to file it, and allow people to find it when searching under appropriate keywords.
2 – Project collaboration. You can think of many of the items posted on WEB 2.0 sites like Facebook and Youtube as “projects”. There is an original post, and over time others add to the discussion around it. Possibly responding with articles, videos or other media of their own, making the original post a “hub” for a whole topic where everyone can have a say and participate.
3 – Syndication. If your message is good, clear and unique, then others may want to spread your word for you. Simple content platforms such as WordPress offer one button press syndication.
A great benefit for both the original author, who sees his message spread to a wider audience. And the syndicator themselves who benefits “by proxy” by having this much sought after information on their site or domain.
The new features and accessibility offered by WEB 2.0 has massively increased the number of people actively participating on the internet. Finding hotspots where these discussions are taking place between massive numbers of people is now relatively easy.
The trick from this point is to leverage your own skills to get your contribution seen and heard. Positioning yourself as someone with a product or idea that people should spend their time and possibly money on.
With the huge expansion of WEB 2.0 social sites, comes easy and quick ways of gaining web traffic to your own web pages.
Twitter Problems Can Derail Your Social Media Strategy

Twitter Problems do not make Twitter iany less a great avenue for traffic generation, customer service, networking, friendship and sales. Though it does take a lot of time, it can certainly be worth it.
Twitter problems and other social media problems are on the rise. Search for Twitter problems, hacked, or twitter glitch on http://search.twitter.com and thousands of tweets will populate.
If you don’t consider the impact that is going to have on your friends and followers, if you don’t consider the impact on your overall trust -then consider all the time you spent developing those friends, followers and trust. Consider how many random twitter followers will press the “spam” button – putting your account on alert.
What would you do if something went awry? Would you stare into the headlights like Toyota did this year and then faced lagging sales? Or would you respond like Johnson & Johnson and have bottles of tainted shampoo not only removed from the shelves in 24 hours, but replaced with newly labeled bottles two days later? Do you have a contingency plan?
So you need a plan. You need to know the answers to all kinds of problems you may have. Like Johnson & Johnson, you need to dedicate time and manpower to solving problems before they happen. Are you prepared for a hacker to not only tweet from your account but also to have access to your e-mail list?
Let me ask you this, I learned that there are two things you have to do to stop a hacker. There are two things you have to do to stop a spammer. There are accessibile Twitter employees who will help you. There are 3rd party help desks that Twitter actually monitors and there are ways to have your followers cataloged so you can refollow them all at once should you encounter a problem. Are you ready yet?

Small Business Owners Have An Edge Over Larger Firms When It Comes To Personal Branding

If you are an entrepreneur or a small business owner, then you should know that everything you do is linked directly to your Personal Brand. Having a small business surely has an advantage when it comes to branding. Unlike the larger companies, you likely have the ability to get very personal.
You need not take any expensive measures for your small business as you have the ideal spokesperson who can represent your brand – YOU!
Here are a few keys that you need to keep in mind about your brand in order to establish that personal touch apart from bringing in some loyal following within your target audience.
Since your character is at the heart of your brand, you need to take care that your character doesn’t show up in a less than favorable way. As everything begins and ends with you, use every opportunity to grow your character. And without a strong character, the remaining success principles don’t make any sense.
People can only come and join to help you attain your goals when they could sense that you are a committed individual. It is that most of the people are attracted to those who have a “no matter what” attitude and who trail on their word. Since you’ll tend to deliver on your promise and can exhibit your Personal Brand value by being committed, you need to build great brands on this.
Confidence can make you unstoppable and help your way to the lead. Right confidence seems to have no boundaries and can make you strive for fitting solutions. It is even considered the backbone of self-esteem. Yet, you will need to be able to distinguish between confidence and arrogance, the later of which often indicates either insecurity or poor social skills.
Being competent is another facet that’s of prime importance. This thing that you attain from having failed, dusted yourself off and tried again is what separates the amateurs from the professionals. Being more competent will not only help you project through your Personal Brand but even get your brand higher loyalty.

How to Get a Huge Following on Twitter

If you\’re on Twitter you know what a powerful marketing tool it can be. But the key to success is finding and keeping followers. Here are 11 steps you can take to get more Twitter followers.
1. The first thing you must do is to write a great bio. Your bio is the first thing people check to determine whether or not to follow you. One key element of your bio is your website, so be sure to include it.
2. If you\’re a Twitter newbie, it\’s best to post about 10 interesting tweets before you look for followers. You must get people interested in following you first.
3. A great way to tweet is to post a link to an interesting article, video or other info you find on the Web. Most such links will be too long for Twitter so go to tinyurl.com to shorten them. All you have to do is copy and paste the old link at this site and it will create a new, short link.
4. Tweet inspiring or humorous quotes. You can find a lot of great quotes that your Twitter followers will enjoy at BrainyQuotes.com
5. Tweet links to interesting videos from YouTube and other such sites.
6. Make sure you re-tweet other people\’s tweets. Many of them will do the same for you, which exposes you to their followers, some of whom may decide to follow you.
7. Twitter is about being social, so join in some conversations. You can do this by giving people a compliment on one of their tweets and by replying to some of their tweets.
8. When people re-tweet you, be sure to thank them. It shows good manners and it increases the chances that they will do it again.
9. On Fridays, participate in Follow Friday. Recommend some of the people you respect and admire to your followers. Many of them will do the same for you, which can help build your following.
10. Read the rules of service and obey them. Don\’t become \”aggressive\” about following and un-following people. Doing so could get your account suspended.
11. Limit your marketing tweets. Try to keep a ratio of about one marketing tweet for every 10 regular ones.

Find Executive Level Jobs Tips: Executive Social Networking Online
A suggestion I would like to share with everyone – from recent college graduates to executives who are earning over $100k -is use social media and start a proactive job search. Over the past year the recruiting industry has changed dynamically; use social media and start a proactive job search. Posting ads on the traditional job boards or hiring headhunters is replaced by searching through candidate\’s profile on linkedin and doing online their own diligence. If you haven\’t done this than create an linkedin facebook and twitter accounts by taking some time out. In today\’s competitive era the basic rule is to grow up or you will be left behind.
Start extending your personal brand by joining and participating on discussions on facebook and lindedin. Q&A section is in linkedin and specialized groups are in both sites. Answering questions and participating in discussions is the best way to promote you. The web scouring recruiters and people who enjoy your posts can add and connect with you if you leave your email address, signature and other media information at the bottom of your message. The only way is for this to be sincere and consistent. Jobconcierge facebook is the best way to start. Frustration makes people quit and but you become successful by giving small time periods weekly or monthly.
Merging social networking with the job applications is the second step of differentiating the application of your job. The very time consuming and tiring which can call job itself. Start from the best job board. This is a must if you want to maximize your chances for getting your next job and want to be thorough. When you start finding jobs accordingly by online job search than you must classify the job results in the following categories: (1)ideal job or (2) willing to work there. The chance of getting more interviews totally depends on the numbers of the jobs you applied for as it is a game. I know people who applied to 100 jobs in a week have only been getting interviews regularly. In this you get an assigned HR recruiter who search jobs and apply it for you what the Jobconcierge helps. The executive search services really works.
The search can be more refined by using the search box which is their in linkedin in right upper hand side. The members within 1st and 2nd degree connections are contacted by the clients , I suggested. You can make a basic ground by joining the same interest groups in which the person is to whom you want to contact and in which there is no basic ground. By messaging people and talking them on phone is the best way to know more about the company what we suggested. The surprising thing is the results that how many people are willing to help. Whether they have any information on the posting can be judged through the conversation if you know anyone in a particular division can bring you a HR contact or you can send your resume directly to HR attached with a suggestion.
Take things one step further and thing strategically now. Two Job concierge members have thanked me for receiving job offers each in past seven days. How did they do it? It\’s not by chance. Relevant jobs were founded by their jobconcierge online each week for them. On linkedin for ideal level jobs they reached out and connected with people. Their applications were filled out and submitted by their Jobconcierge for the other level jobs. Job search is itself a job of full-time. Using your time more efficiently and result maximization. Online spending 50 hours in a month and getting is nowhere what is done by an average job-seeker. Taking things one step further can be done by classifying jobs you find online, starting a proactive job search and reaching out to various connections on LinkedIn. What you get will really surprise you .
JobConcierge offers automated job search – real people who search 300 job boards and submit applications to take care of your entire online job search. The site is known for its best jobs for 2010
